A subgroup of Ss with a schizophrenia diagnosis was compared with a control group receiving conventional rehabilitation, regarding living situation, work situation and use of inpatient psychiatric care 2 yrs before and 2 yrs after treatment. Results show improvement for the Ss in the treatment group in 4 of 5 outcome measures between admission and the 2-yr followup. Differences between the Ss in the treatment group and the control group showed a reduction in the use of inpatient psychiatric care for the Ss receiving comprehensive cognitive therapy based treatment during the 2 yrs after treatment.
